Two Spring Turkey Seasons
(Apr. 3 – Apr. 24) & (Apr. 25 – May 16)

Season Limits: 

  • 1 Adult Gobbler or 1 Gobbler with a 6” beard or longer per day not to exceed 3 per season.
  • Immature birds (jakes) may not be harvested.
  • Youth Turkey Season is not open on MLAAP to Public Hunters.

AGE LIMIT:
21 years or older
Individual Drawing:  Cannot bring dependents or guests

Application Deadline:  Feb. 10 (by 12:00 noon) (Allow 7 days for mail delivery)

To apply for the public drawing mail or hand-deliver the following to address below:

  • Copy of State Hunter Safety (any state); current address & phone no.
  • Application fee of $5.00 for 1 season or $10.00 for both seasons.  Indicate which season(s) you are applying for.
  • Application fee must be personal check, cashier check, or m.o. payable to the U.S. Treasury.  (We do not accept CASH).

If Drawn:

  • Hunter will be notified by phone on February 11th (late afternoon).
  • Hunter is required to attend a mandatory hunter orientation class. Class is good for 5 years.  If you attended a class prior to 2017, you will need orientation in 2021.  See Hunting Notice “2021 Hunter Orientation Schedule” on the hunting website for date and times of classes and how to register.
  • Masks and social distance protocols will be required.

Note:  Annual NCIC background check and hunter orientation class are not required prior to applying for the drawing —- but are required before purchasing MLAAP public turkey permit.  See 2021-2022 MLAAP Hunting/Fishing Permit Sales


When purchasing your MLAAP permit – fees are Non-fundable ( see below)

  • If Drawn for 1 season   – price is $20.00 minus $5.00 application fee = total of $15.00 due.
  • If Drawn for 2 seasons – price is $40.00 minus $10.00 application fee = total of $30.00 due.

General Information:

  • MLAAP turkey are NOT considered bonus birds; Does count against your TN state limit.
  • Public hunting zones are 21, 22, 23, 24, 28, 29, Zone Q. Maps available at www.milanarsenalhunting.com
  • Public hunters can hunt inside zones, if they have a sponsor and purchase a guest turkey permit. (Guests are not allowed to hunt during opening turkey week (April 3-9).
  • Weapons:  shotguns and muzzleloading shotguns loaded with No. 4 shot or smaller.  All shotguns must be cased during transport.  No rifles allowed.
  • Deadline dates to  submit early turkey request (Form 814) for:
    • Opening weekend, Season 1 (Apr. 3-4)   Deadline date;  Mar. 24
    • Opening Weekend Day, Season 2 (Apr. 25)  Deadline Date:  April 14

Note:  Required Assignment/Check-in Procedures: 

  1. If you submit an early turkey request for opening weekend by the deadline dates above, you will be randomly assigned a zone.  If you want to change your assigned zone when you check in to hunt, you must first hunt your assigned zone before changing zones no earlier than 10:00 AM.
